From our earliest days, Teatro Círculo has toured our plays to college campuses, high schools, NYC parks, and sites throughout New York City and State. As our reputation grew, we were invited to perform internationally at prestigious Golden Age Festivals in France and Spain.
Touring our work allows Teatro Círculo to provide contemporary Latin American work and Golden Age Classics, performed in Spanish, for audiences of 1st-3rd generation Latinx Americans and newly arrived immigrants. These touring performances serve to revive and preserve Spain’s Golden Age Classics and to amplify the voices of Latin American playwrights.
With support from the Honorable Shaun Abreu, City Council District 7, and New York City’s Department of Cultural Affairs, we received Cultural Immigrant Initiative funding to tour Upper Manhattan with Carmen Rivera’s timely and powerful play, La caída de Rafael Trujillo / The Downfall of Rafael Trujillo, in June of 2023.
Teatro Círculo’s Northeast Tour of La caída de Rafael Trujillo is supported, in part, by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, The NYC Department of Cultural Affairs through the office of City Council Member Shaun Abreu, The New York State Council on the Arts, The Howard Gilman Foundation, The Shubert Foundation, the Kaplen Brothers Fund & the Cory & Bob Donnalley Charitable Foundation.
Thanks to generous funding from our international sponsor, Mid Atlantic Arts’ USArtists Program, we brought our production of La vida es sueño / Life is a Dream to Spain’s Clásicos en Alcalá in July 2022.
Mid-Atlantic has generously funded us again, so that we can return to the Festival Iberoamericano del Siglo de Oro de la Comunidad de Madrid, Clásicos en Alcalá and to the Fundación Siglo de Oro’s Corral de Cervantes, in Madrid in June 2023.
