Teatro Círculo, celebrating its 30th Anniversary presents EL ALCALDE DE ZALAMEA (The Mayor of Zalamea) by Pedro Calderón de la Barca.

When a father’s love meets military abuse, justice becomes a deadly weapon. This version of Calderón’s classical masterpiece is set during the invasion of Puerto Rico by the US Army in 1898.

 
Directed by Daniel Alonso de Santos and the verse direction by Karmele Aranburu this Calderón’s classic explores the moral challenges of a wealthy peasant, Pedro Crespo, whose daughter Isabel is attacked by a Captain of the Spanish Army.
