These are the showpieces with which Teatro Círculo, one of the main bilingual Latin theater companies in New York City, raises the curtain on its 2023 season.

Mexican Folklórico is among the oldest and most beloved traditions in Mexican culture – surviving centuries of change to remain relevant in modern times.

For 28 years, Teatro Círculo has been presenting Spanish Golden Age theater plays and contemporary theater works in New York City. As part of CALLBACKseries2023, from February 16 to 26 Teatro Círculo presents ‘Seis’ by Uruguayan playwright Federico Roca, a moving tribute to six transgender women murdered in Uruguay between 2012 and 2013.

One play takes us to the south, to Uruguay, and the dance show to Northern Mexico

ASÍ SE BAILA EN EL NORTE follows the journey of a group of professional Folklórico dance couples in Northern Mexico as they compete for glory in various styles of polka.

‘Seis’, directed by Pablo Andrade (Venezuela), will be performed in Spanish with overtitles in English and with choreography by Demetrius Blocker.
