Teatro Círculo launches BIPOC Affordable Rehearsal Rental Program

Thanks to a Special Opportunity Award Subsidy from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA)!

For New York City artists, the cost of Rehearsal Space is growing increasingly high.  Now, thanks to a Special Opportunity grant subsidy from NYSCA, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous People of Color) Artists and Organizations can rent affordable rehearsal space at Teatro Circulo’s modern, 3rd floor Rehearsal Studios.

For qualifying BIPOC artists and entities, Teatro Círculo’s Affordable Rental Program will provide 1,500 hours of deeply discounted rentals to BIPOC artists and entities for $10/hour at our modernized 3rd FLoor studio space.

Eligible artists and groups can book studio time for $10 an hour Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm to 11:00 pm; and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm.  This is a 60% discount in addition to our already affordable rates for nonprofits and artists.

Through this program, Teatro Círculo will create a safe and fully appointed, affordable space where emerging BIPOC actors, directors, writers, designers, dancers, and performance-based artists are encouraged to think and create BIG. This program also offers a vision and advocacy for a platform of anti-racism, equitable funding, and structural support for culturally specific artists and performing groups.

We are grateful to Governor Hochul and everyone at the New York State Council on the Arts, for this generous grant subsidy, which will help launch a new generation of performing artists of color.
