Join Teatro Círculo, one of New York City’s leading non-profit Spanish language theater companies, as we celebrate our 30th anniversary with a special Gala honoring acclaimed Latinx actors Liza Colón-Zayas and David Zayas.

Our Gran Fiesta will be on Monday March 18th, 2024 from 6:30 PM to 10 PM at The Center (208 West 13^th St. in Manhattan). Join us for an unforgettable evening of special tributes, delicious food and drinks and a chance to celebrate Teatro Círculo’s incredible journey.

Liza Colón-Zayas is an American actress and playwright. Liza Colón was born and raised in The Bronx borough of New York City and began her career off-Broadway. She broke into mainstream theatre when she wrote, produced, and starred in a one-woman show titled Sistah Supreme, a semi-autobiographical play in which she chronicles growing up as an Latina woman in New York during the 1970s and 1980s. Liza is one of the original members of The LAByrinth Theater Company in New York. She won an Obie & Outer Critics Circle Award for Halfway Bitches go Straight to Heaven by Stephen Adley Guirgis, directed by John Ortiz. She has performed with The Public Theater and the Atlantic Theater Company. Her performances in various plays, such as Between Riverside and Crazy and Water by the Spoonful have garnered critical acclaim and earned her numerous accolades. Liza is part of the top cast of the award-winning television show The Bear (The Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series, The Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy).

David Zayas is a Puerto Rican theatrical, film, and television actor. He is best known for his roles as Angel Batista on Showtime’s series Dexter and as Enrique Morales on the HBO prison drama Oz, and the movies Skyline and The Expendables. Some of his projects include Devil of Choice by Maggie Diaz Bofill and Divine Horseman written and directed by Paul Calderón. In 1992 joined LAByrinth Theater Company, where he appeared in several plays by Stephen Adley Guirgis. On Broadway, he appeared in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Anna in the Tropics by Nilo Cruz and directed by Emily Mann. David Zayas stars in John Patrick Shanley’s Brooklyn Laundry off Broadway at New York City Center from February 6 to March 24, 2024. David earned a Tony Award nomination in 2023 for starring in the Broadway premiere of Martyna Majok’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Cost of Living.
